  1. Your Basal Metabolic Rate (BMR)- the calories you burn as your body performs basic life-sustaining function.
  2. Your level of activity through activities of daily living and structured exercise.
  3. The Thermic Effect of food metabolism.

Now you know your TDEE, the sky’s the limit!

To be successful in losing weight, you want to consume less calories than your TDEE. Sounds simple, yeah? This is where people can go wrong.
A good starting point is to consume roughly 500 calories less per day than your TDEE. This should roughly equate to losing half a kilo a week.

Whilst technically you could eat a multitude of cookies and still remain in a calorie deficit, the choice of your foods are important to ensure satiety (feeling full) and that you’re receiving all the nutrients your body needs to thrive!
